After School Care

After School Care at LAC provides your child with fun, safe and engaging care for their afternoon. We start the afternoon with an early afternoon tea at 3:15pm after meeting and roll call.

Children have a number of opportunities to decide how they would like to spend their afternoon. Our key principle of ‘free play’ allows the children to choose where they would like to play throughout the afternoon and our range of facilities and different areas allows this. Educators supervise to ensure that all activities are running smoothly, while also engaging with the children and ensuring that they are enjoying their afternoon.

The centre also offers structured activities in the afternoon, which are programmed around a weekly theme that influences craft, cookings and group activities. For more information on this head over to "Our Program" tab.

We also offer a 'Kindy Room' program for Kindergarten students at our centre. This in an age appropriate program of activities specially created to help children develop new friendships in their first year of school in a quiet, calm and relaxed environment.

A second afternoon tea is offered at 5:00pm for the children, ending free play and providing the children with a small snack in order to help them replenish after an hour and a half of playtime. The food offered is a snack that has often been prepared with the help of the children.

Homework Club

Based on parent feedback from our 2018 Survey we have introduced a homework club in the afternoon. Parents are given the opportunity to sign their child up to participate in this by completing the form below. Parents are to understand that this is not a tutoring session, and that Educators will be primarily supervising children to complete their homework.

Extra Curricular Activites on School Grounds

Children undertaking extra curricular activities on school grounds whilst attending after school care, must first sign in at the centre prior to being accompanied to their activity. Parents must ensure that a permission form has been completed and provided to the centre for all extra-curricular activities they wish for their child to attend.

The centre will ensure so far as is reasonably practicable that children are accompanied to their respective venue at the allocated time, but does not have resppnsibility for children while they are attending activities.  A new form will need to be completed for each individual activity each year, or whenever the location or time changes.
